We recently found out that the Vivo V9 will be announced to the Indian market on March 27. Luckily, the trusty leakers over at SlashLeaks are on the case, revealing the device in all its glory.
GSMArena first gave us a look at the Vivo V9 when a tipster took photos of the phone on a billboard in Indonesia back in February. The photos that were just leaked confirm the rumors that surfaced from the pictures on the billboard.
Update: In a fresh round of leaks, a user on Twitter has taken images of the official box, as well as the Vivo V9:
We see that Vivo has styled the V9 much like the Apple iPhone X. This is evident from the vertical dual rear-camera setup, as well as the notch at the top of the screen.
Vivo thinks slimmer is better as they have also created very small bezels (though they are still there, rest assured). Vivo didn’t implement the Synaptic in-screen fingerprint scanner on the V9, so we find the fingerprint scanner on the rear of the device.
We also see quite a few other iPhone-like similarities from looking at the bottom of the Vivo V9.
First, if it weren’t for the microUSB port, it would be nearly indistinguishable from the iPhone 6 from this angle. This is a bummer since most new phones have implemented USB-C.
Second, we see that Vivo has kept the 3.5mm headphone jack, and in this regard didn’t take after the Apple iPhone X.
Vivo V9 Specs
Yet despite the seemingly mediocre appearance, the Vivo V9 packs powerful internals that almost rival the newest flagships. The V9 will ship with:
- Android Oreo 8.0
- A 16MP rear camera and 24MP front camera
- A 6.0-in FHD AMOLED screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 5
- Snapdragon 835 (we would be very excited if Vivo managed to get the 845 in the V9)
- 6GB of RAM
- 64GB internal / expandable up to 256GB
- 3450 mAh battery (non-removable)
The price for the device will start around INR 25,000 (about $385 USD).
