With leaks of the new AirPods, MacBook Air and iPhone X Plus already circulating online, everybody is growing more eager for WWDC 2018. Luckily for us, it looks like we have credible leaks for possibly the most controversial iPhone yet; the iPhone X SE.
The following image, credit to Slashleaks, show different sketches for the upcoming iPhone X SE (Right) next to the 2015 iPhone SE (left). As you can see, Apple has removed the headphone jack and the home button while adding an iPhone X style notch.
The next image is from Macotakara and features concepts created from a wide range of rumours. This sleek design features a glass back and no home button. This means we can expect FaceID and wireless charging. This concept is followed by a video of a physical version of the device from the same website but it features dual back cameras.
It’s been three years since the first iPhone SE and only a year since it received a larger storage option. Although an iPhone manufacturer Wistron, who is currently assembling the iPhone 8, says the new device will be released in the first quarter of 2018, numerous sources have been suggesting that the new iPhone could be releasing sometime in April.
Since the iPhone SE was made with the iPhone 6s in mind, we’ll probably see the same pattern with the iPhone X SE taking certain specifications from the iPhone 8. Here’s a list of the predicted specifications.
Front Camera: 7 MP (rather than the 5 MP selfie camera in the previous SE)
Back Camera: 12 MP f/1.8 aperture with 4k video at 30 fps (possible dual camera addition)
Processor: A10 with M10 co-processor as seen in the iPhone 7 (via Chinese report on xx.qq.com)
Storage: 32 or 128 GB
Battery: 1640 – 1700 mAh
Display: 4.2 inch retina display with 458 PPI (0.2 inches larger which could explain the larger battery capacity)
Since the iPhone SE was never meant to be a flagship device, it won’t be sporting any brand new features. Rather, it will most likely be adopting iPhone X features. Here’s a list of possible features we see Apple adding into the SE.
- Wireless Charging
- 3D Touch
- Dual Back Cameras
With different concepts appearing online, it’s difficult to pin point a certain price point. Some sources say that this iPhone will be priced like the previous iPhone, starting at $449.99. Now since this iPhone could feature dual back cameras and FaceID, it’s very possible it could start at around $700. We’ll have to wait and find out what Apple decides at WWDC in April.
Overall the new iPhone is exciting and regardless of the decisions, people will be lining up with their credit cards ready. Will you be picking up the newest iPhone?
